Default Brake discs and pads

What are currently regarded as the best front disc and pad combination at the moment?

I have original Surabu 4 pots and looking for something not too expensive but good enough for general day to day driving and the odd bit of fast driving.

I bought and fitted some 'Redstuff' pads at the weekend on my WRX as the standard brake setup felt really poor and have given me a few worrying moments.

The difference in bite and feel is HUGE with thw 'Redstuff' pads even after 100 miles with the pads not bedded in properly. They certainly have given me alot more confidence in the brakes (which I thought was the weakest part of the car). Even the wife commented on the improvement in the brakes when she drove it to work, that says something in itself.

The standard subaru pads that came off have done 10,500miles since the car was new and had several cracks on all of them which is abit alarming!!

hey there

the ebc discs and redstuff pads are a good upgrage from basic but the padlife was not upto much, loads brake dust and i always got brake fade after about 3/4 mins of spirited driving around country bends.

I'm now on tarox 20 groove with ferodo ds2500 track pads from d.tweeks. they have a great feel and work perfect from cold. and i have yet to feel any brake fade from them. Oh and the brake dust is less!!!

its worth paying the 'bit' extra if you can, i got 6 or 8k on the ebc discs and pads. pads were fooked and cracked with very little left on them and the discs had got lips on them. probably will have lasted another set of redstuff pads but didnt like them myself.

and no i dont drive on the brake pedal.....

tim
