Thumbs down P1 Cranks

Has anyone heard of P1 Cranks failing @ 50,000 miles.
I took my car into a main dealer for a 52,500 mile service. After 50 miles up the road heard a knocking noise and reffered the car back to the dealer and was told that the Crank was knocking. To my knowledge the car has never been on a track day but I am the second owner and purchased it with full dealer history.
Would appreciate anyones views.

But i thought the cranks on the p1 were nitrided with bigger journals??All the rods and pistons are forged steel not casted??Ive heard of early wrx models with crank failure and piston slap on around 1998 model after 20,000 miles but only heard of the p1 failing due to driver abuse around 70,000 miles. The clutch has out lasted the crank dont sound right to me!!!!!!

Seen 7 P1's with crank failure between 18,500 & 43,000 miles. It is most unlikely the dealer caused the crank/shells to fail.

Though a strip down of the engine will no doubt reveal the cause.....

Depends on what sort of fuel you ran the car on also as P1's were only meant to be run on super unleaded, not normal unleaded

P1 engine is exactly the same as STI 5/6.

There are many theories and some good expanations, about why a bearing may go,
