Seen people mentioning TD04/05 etc but think thats related to the classic impreza's.

Just curious whats the model number/code thats fitted on the 02 STI Type Uk and who is it made by? Garret?

Another newbie question i know but damned if i can find it on the site.

The turbo is made by IHI and it is a VF35.

on the 02 cars i think the first few were vf34 then all the rest after that were vf35 up to present day,i am sure tony burns will appear re jdm turbos!

Cheers guys. Anyway of knowing just by looking if it's a VF34 or 35 and what the difference is between them?

I dont have any problems, just trying to learn a little more about what im driving

I thought the 02 STI Type UK had a VF30, not a VF34.

I agree with mark it will be a VF30, i think 03 onwards they changed to VF35. the VF34 came on the bugeye jdm spec c. it will have a stamp on the turbo stating the model number.

whast the spool up and power potenital on a VF30 then?

VF30, VF34 and VF35's make it sound like the original (if it was VF30) must of have some potential problems???

02's ran a vf 35 or if you were lucky a vf34, the 35 is a sleeve bearing turbo, the 34 a low friction roller bearing turbo.
