After driving my car, and parking up i allow near a miniute before switching the car off...i usually then hear small noise's comming from the engine bay, which i think is normal as the engine is hot..then suddenly i hear this loud knock which rather worried me.

This has happened 3 times now...

Any thoughts?

Is the knock as if the engine is trying to run on? Other cars I have had occasionally have had this and are down to the timing being out. I know how to change it on a Ford Pinto engine - but have no idea where you would start with a scooby.

has your air-con been on at the time? can make a bit of clack when compressor cuts in.
