Default WRX STi Driving like a "normal" car (??)

My sister-in-law has a 2003 Impreza WRX STi. It has recently been with the Subaru dealership at Monks Heath in Macclesfield for two weeks why they try to establish why it's driving like a bag of poo.

It's struggling when she puts her foot down, like spluttering almost, and it seems to have forgotten that it's a turboed car, as if it has no boost whatsoever.

The dealership have given her the car back and told her there's nothing wrong with it - typical fobbing off to a female driver me thinks - but she's a bit lost at what to do next.

I'm going down to Power Engineering tomorrow to collect my own car, and she was going to come with me to see if they could take a look but it seems they're a bit busy.

Can anyone recommend a good place to take in the North West.

I thought it may be something like the mass air flow and perhaps the ecu has gone into some kind of "safe" mode cos all is not well.

Any advice would really be appreciated

Cheers
Ruth

Ruth,

Go to Prosport in stockport, they are an authorised subaru service center, their number is 0161 432 9999, ive taken my scoobs and normal cars there for a few years now, nothing but praise for them they look after you and do an excellent job on your car

Tony

PS, give them a call today, see when they can fit you in, they are normally pretty busy but very accommodating and you will probably get John on that number, Pete the owner is a great guy and the lads know what they are doing on scoobs

Thanks for that - I'll pass the info on to her.

I can't believe they've given her the car back as it is

My '03 WRX runs like a regular Impreza RS. I have absolutly no boost, and no idea why. I just picked the car up at auction and will see if i can get the dealer to look at it.

i changed an air flow meter once and it sorted out the problem. it never showed up as a fault on the diagnostics. but first try disconnect the battery for ten mins and give it a shot. if it does boost and then go into limp mode again you might have bad fuel. try octane booster then.nitrous formula worked wonders for me.
