Default Removing cam shaft pulleys

Nearly got my engine totally in bits but cant get off the cam pulleys on the left bank, got the right banks of easily! Just wondering if anyone knows if they are a left hand thread??

Shouldn't need a left hand thread, cos they rotate the same way as the others....

They must just be bloody tight then!!! Had a big lever bar on them though and they still wouldnt budge. I'll have to see if i can borrow the special tool to hold the cams from a subaru dealer.

?? do you mean the pulleys are jammed on the shaft or you can't undo the bolt??

if its the bolt undo the cam cover and you will see the cam has "flats" on it...............some of them can be fecking tight!!

Yeah i've tried that mate, had an adjustable spanner on the cams themselves and a fair size lever bar on the bolt and it still wouldnt shift!

Know what you mean. Sometimes with the cambelt still in place this holds them together enough to undo.

Or order a used set from Scoobybits, take a hammer, and smash the bas*ards off.

Got them off in the end, had to take the engine to a hgv garage, they got a 1" drive impact gun on it, on full power this still struggled for a few mins!! The lads working there couldnt believe how tight it was
