Default Bleed valve and fuel cut defender and ECU's....

Only had my scoob for 3 weeks and when I bought it it had an induction kit, exhaust (cat back) and vta dv.
I was planning on adding a dawes device as I keep seeing these being mentioned, however I fitted a standard dumpvalve at the weekend and I noticed that I already had a bleed valve connected.
At the moment the bleedvalve is turned down so I am running standard boost.
If I just get a fuel cut defencer can I then turn the boost up a bit (no silly levels) or would I be better of with a different standard ECU from a later car?

My car is a my93 import (dont know the ECU model), can the ECU's be switched between different MY's to have different maps and so on.
What would be the best standard ECU to have?
Also a 'Remap', can this be done on the standard ECU and what sort of costs would this be.

Don't fiddle with the boost without altering the fueling and ignition etc (i.e. a properly mapped ECU).... esp on an import, which are already more prone to detonation owing to the lower grade UK fuel. With a car of your age , you'd really be looking at a replacement ECU, maybe Apexi? I'm not sure, but you may also be able to get a piggy back ECU like the one ScoobyClinic do mapped for your car.

If you take short cuts in extracting more power from a 12 year old performance car that's not even configured to run on UK fuel, you're asking for a big bill IMHO.

All the best,

The car has done less than 70k miles, it has only been in the country for a few years.
Is it possible to swap the ecu with a standard uk spec ecu? and if so which one?

AFAIK No, you'd need to get a replacement ECU, like Apexi, Gems, Motec etc and have it mapped for UK fuel.... I think There is also a "Scooby ECU" that Scooby clinic can fit and map, don't know much about it and its compatibility though. You'd be best off speaking to a specialist.

You can swap ECU's - the safest option would be to source a Z4 or Z5 ecu which have a less aggressive ignition map and are the most suited to optimax or Tesco 99ron. The boost target is also higher on the Z4 (12.71psig) opposed to your current ecu (11.47psig) so you will also gain a few more horses with the advantage of being able to our fuel

Cheers
