95 WRX AIR IDLE VALVE PROBLEMS
I'm trying to eliminate this as the cause to an intermitent problem I seem to have.
Has anyone ever had a problem with the above and changed it?
What was the initial problem?
How did you come to the conclusion it was the Air Idle valve?
And lastly does anyone know how much they are brand new as I've phoned Subaru and waiting a reply ???????????

Mine has just gone on my P1.Every time i started the car it reved up to 4,000rpm and could not control it .Try taking it of and pulling out the plunger in the unit,so it sticks as far out as it will go(it is tight to pull out) put it back in and try it again .I just paid £300 for mine

When I start my car up, I don't rev that high, it goes to 1500 revs then settles at 1100, which I feel is normal.
My problem is that when I'm driving normally 1st, 2nd gears etc I get very bad hesitation as if suffering petrol starvation, but under boost the car flies and no knocklink activity so I know its not petrol related.
I was wandering if the valve was not closing properly when my car is moving therefore I'm getting too much air into the manifold causing the mixtures to be out,
martyP1, how did your car perform when driving, or was it only on start up, that you noticed the problem?

The air idle valve only controls the idle .My p1 performance was fine it was just the idle was at 4,000rpm .As i say it is very expensive to buy so get it checked before you buy one.Hope this helps.
