MY01 - Pulsing in 5th Gear
Coming back from the ring this weekend I have experienced a problem which gradually got worse
in 5th gear around 2500 / 3000 rpm when I floored the throttle the boost now builds and overboosts (to about 22.9 psi) and then drops back to about 15 psi then goes up and over boosts again.
I did report a problem about a year ago that around the same area on part throttle the boost drops from about 12 psi to 6.9 psi on part throttle in other gears.. haven't got to the bottom of this but now this is worrying
any ideas -
MY01 WRX, PPP, STi intercooler, green air filter, miltek sports cat exhaust from turbo back and decat up pipe....

Sounds like could be a boost control solenoid issue or a sticky wastegate actuator - Is it not throwing up a CEL???
Good idea to check all your sense line hoses to the solenois/wastegate etc are still firmly in place and not fretted or holed.
Would suggest you get the ECU codes read for any clues.

no ecu codes and no cels (SECS monitor you see)
i'll re-check hoses again tonight but couldn't see anything yesterday (although the light was starting to go)

Definatly worth checking the wastegate and the actuator operation-have you also checked that the boost solenoid isnt contaminated with oil? it'd probably be worth cleaning out with carb cleaner anyway.
