Smile Whistling Noise

When on boost i get this whistling noise coming from under the bonnet, i can be doin 70 on the motorway and nothing as soon as i accelerate i get the whistle it also does it in all the other gears even low down.
Any ideas?
Cheers

PS: The whistle sounds like the noise you get when the window is open a tad.

ok seriously now

whats the car setup do you have a full decat or a downpipe decat ?

and what model is it ?

on my full decat i noticed that you can hear the turbo whistle alot louder then with a cat

leaking pipe somewhere ?

maybe worn turbo bearings, how does the car drive otherwise ?

cheers

its just standard ?

maybe a leak, check the pipes around the turbo area and see if any is loose or has partially off

if the car drives normally it could just be a small air leak somewhere

have you messed around in the engine bay lately, common if you do some work you accidently push to some pipes or pull them off slightly unintendedly

a week, then maybe the former owner messed around before he sold it to you ?

maybe a pipe that was loose has come even more off after you have given it some stick

i would check for that still, all the pipe work around the turbo area, small rubber hoses etc.

cheers

I'd suggest it maybe asplit on the soft rubber part of the Inlet pipe that attatches to the front of the turbo.

I had a strange whistling noise suddenly appear, and when I got round to upgrading the turbo, found there was a split in this part of the hose!.

You would need to replace it, which is: A) Not very easy to do without alot of messing
B) Difficult to see if it is split until removal.

check bolts holding down dump valve on intercooler.will make a whistling sound if loose or seal damaged when boosting.
