Would seem that my standard MAF on my 95 Sti is pretty much maxed out, reached 5105mv last night ![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I've read about people fitting a MAF from a 300zx or a GTS?
I had a look at my mates GTS and it's the same make (Jecs) and design only its got a bigger diameter tube? I know ill need to get the ecu re-mapped to suit but ill prob get it done at the same time i fit an better intercooler and bigger injectors
Which one am i best to go for and where's the best place to find one?
Looked at new ones but they're the best part of £400!!!
Cheers Kenny

It's not as bad as all that, it would show up straight away when the time came for Andy.F to re-scale the power fc which, if i'm correct in saying doesnt try to cover up a failing maf like the standard ecu will so either way i'd know about it before it did any harm.
Sure i read somewhere that the earlier ones are supposed to be a bit tougher although i accept it's still easily bustable if treated wrong but with a bit of patience (something i've got lots of) i'm sure it's do-able.
Easiest option seems to be a 300zx or the Skyline one, although i spoke to RB Motorsport (Skyline specialists) today regarding sourcing a second hand Skyline one and he said there's an uprated off the shelf one available that still has a 70mm bore but has different internals and is supposidly good for around 500bhp? Although i cant remember who he said makes it, might have been nismo but cant be sure. What i can remember was that it was £240 new, not too bad considering most places seem to want about a £100 for a unknown second hand one.

not trying to say your engine is goin to blow up just saying if maf fails at around 5000 rpm your in for a big bill as you will still be on power mafs are serious stuff they tell the ecu what to do wi fueling if it runs lean your into piston failure ... like you say have it checked thats all by an engine mapper , you mention andy forrest , in my eyes this is the guy very helpful man and knows his stuff would, trust my car wi him anyday treats it like his own ...gaz

If the maf or anything else developed a fault and resulted in the engine running lean the CEL would flash to indicate that the knock threshold has been exceeded so i'd know something was wrong and then investigate the cause/fault.
It's not really a case of maf fails engine goes bang two seconds later.
