Default Power FC wiring Problem

I got hold of a second hand Power FC with the aim to do a bit a diy mapping. I'm still waiting for Datalogit to re-open and even when it does it'll probably take weeks to get here so I'm now gettng incredibly frustrated.

It was from an almost identical spec car so I thought I'd give it a go and was at least expecting it to run but when I turn the ignition on before turning it over it sounds like the fuel pump or injectors (or whatever makes that 1/2 second whir on the standard ecu) stays on constantly. On turning it over there is not the slightest hint of a spark.

I've got the FC-Edit software and the base map that comes with it (no datalogit box though) and I've been comparing this base map with whats showing in the commander but other than the actual maps I can't see anything different.

Anyone got any ideas?

I think you might have some wiring problems.

Now you mention it I seem to remember something about a difference between UK and WRX wiring.

Any ideas if this is right and what needs doing? Its a UK MY98.

Thanks mate.

Can you confirm what is changed to what just to make sure I get it right.

B137
17 swapped with 7

B136
10 swapped with 8

Also it there an easy way to get these pins out and swap them or do you need to cut and solder?

7 was a empty pin on my car. You just need to put 17 to 7 and then swap 10 to 7. Actually you dont need any soldering. The cables can easily plug out and plug in. You should open the cover of the connectors and push the cables with a needle from the opposite side.

By the way if I were you I'd find someone who knows PowerFCs for a mapping session.(Bob Rawle,Andy.F,Pavlo,Pat,John so many others that I dunno) You will really get what you pay for. The default map is too advanced and can make a damage to the engine. But if you really want to learn then go on Mapping is a long and hard process without experience. I'm trying to sort it out since one year with no real success =) I think with OEM ecu my car was performing much better.

Thanks once again and thanks for the advice about mapping in general. Thankfully I've had plenty of experiance with other ecu's on other cars in the past and played with a few scoobs already fitted with a pfc. Its just I've never physically fitted a PFC.
