Default Defi Oil Preasure readings..

Fitted my Defi's last week.. curious to see how the Oil Pressure I get relates to others and indeed if it is *normal. Stock sender removed (under alternator) and defi one fitted. (To a MY99 STi BTW)

Idle, solid..... 20
Moderate progress.... 60
Through gears hard.....80

Highest peak showing 81 ish

When coming to a halt it dips below 20 slightly then pops back up to 20.

How does this relate to yours... and indeed in it 0K..

My gauge is measured in SI(International System of units) as opposed to imperial units.

The gauge you have linked to is measured in Bar (same as my gauges).

My car:

Idle = 3 Bar
Moderate / Hard driving = 6.5 max.
After hard really hard driving on idle = 2.25 Bar

If your peaking around 8, perhaps your driving too hard when you engine oil is cold? My gauges saved a peak of 7 bar, but I don't take the car past 3K when the oil is cool.

I use Mobil 1 Motorsport which I think is 15/50.

Always warm up & cool down, change every 5k with Motul 15-50.

Only ever peaked at 8 ish once or twice (track).

Interesting so the measurments 20..30..40.etc are actually Bar.

Anyone else got examples?

Think there's a decimal point in there. 2.0 Bar etc.

I've a Defi oil gauge too. The values were the same as yours before upgrading to 0-60W Shell Ultra. Now I can see 30 at idle,65-75 at normal cruise and 95-100 at WOTs.

Castrol RS10/60
Idle cold 6.5 bar
idle hot 2.5/2.75
driving hot 6.0
cold driving (warming up oil Nice & steady) 6.5 dropping as the temp increases
When the Oil is nice & warm & the oil temp gauge reaches 90 Degs ??
Have not got as clue as im too busy watching the fast windy country roads

My lamco oil pressure gauge reads in kg/cm(squared)

Usually around 55-60 normal driving warm
65-70 hard driving
25-30 idle

No idea if these are good readings or not!
