How is your car currently mapped?
standard uk ecu ?
scoobyecu?
other chip e.g vos chip?
replacement ecu?
Are you using any boost controlers?
Seems strange for a rebuilt engine to go bang so soon.

It just went bang? No warning, no other symptoms?

Take it back to Xtreme mate. With any failure you need to know why it happened before you start a rebuild, lest you just build around an unresolved problem that'll case the next rebuild to go bang!

If its only pulling 0.9 bar then I'd say it probably hasnt been re-mapped.

Agreed, my understanding is that 0.9 bar is std boost on a UK turbo.

I sympatise with you mate. I had a similar car, mildly modified that also detonated. i believe, a full rebuild will cost in the region of £2.5 K

Take it to Xtreme...but its out of warranty...so dont expect too much

IMHO buy a second hand engine with six months warranty and just replace the whole engine. You can pick one up a WRX one for around £800. you can pick up sti red tops for around £1200

Good luck

The 2000MY was well known for trashing MAF's and then engines. When was the MAF last replaced? As NS04 says you need to understand why it went bang otherwise a rebuild could just be money down the drain.

Exactly, did you have a new MAF sensor when you had the rebuild? First thing I would do if the place that rebuilt it hadn't put a new one on already.

Get a Knocklink, that way you can see any det' way before the engine blows.

Of course this may all just be bad luck and your not getting any det' at all but something else caused the failure. It is however the usual culprit for melted pistons or big end failures
