immobiliser question...
my 97 facelift sooby was broken in to an the immobiliser was armed, now i cant get it to disarm from my understanding, i need to get new locks and barrel and get the new key programmed to these via the transponder(assuming its still on the car as i dont know where it is!) my question is:
will locks from a my 98 fit my car and can i get them programmed by a speialist so that they work or does it HAVE to be from the same year??!!!
please help me asap guys, cos of these thieving scumbags im being caused a lot of grief.....but with some good advice form fellow scooby netters im determined that they dont win .
regards

i doubt you will need to get new locks and keys if you have an immobiliser problem.unless the thieving ***** have broken things?
best option if its a std alarm is to go to the stealers and order a new key and get them to re programme it to the alarm. ( transponder is in the key fob, the reciever is in the alarm)

i'd be inclined to think that all classic's are the same! don't quote me on that though as i'm not 100%
i think to locks will be the same, but the problem you might have will be the immobiliser transponder. if it's in the key then it will need to be transfered or the a new key cut and programmed in. that in itself shouldn't be too hard!

thats what 1 thought mate and had been 1nformed that too, however dealers cla1m that 1t has to be from the same model year, so 1 just wanna clear up the confus1on as 1 can only get my hands on locks from d1fferent model years.
1 agree mate, now 1 just need the barrel/lock set wh1ch 1s why 1 need to know wh1ch w1ll f1t so 1 can try out that theory.
so bascally to recap: 1f 1 got jus an 1gnton barrel wth a bu1lt 1n rec1ever (that f1ts to my car!!) 1 could programme them to my the car>?

the way i see it is, if the reciever is in the ignition barrrel then you will definatly have to get the transponder in the key fob programmed to it
