Question Number plate options with FMIC.

Does anybody know if stick on number plates are legal? if not those with FMIC's with no lip spoliers what have you done to secure your number plates to the front of your cars?.

Thanks.

From what Ive read earlier they are illegal.
I can only think of 3 option.
1. Just above the original location but higher up on the bumper.
2.Central to bumper but on the lower lip section.
3. On the side by the fog covers.

they are ilegal acording to the dvla webb site
witch states they are ilegal because they dont have the honeycomb reflective material, they also state that they are not aware of a stick on reflective material.

but i guess that you could always get it from a numberplate supplier and stick that to your car

but any hows i have a front mounted inter cooler and a illegal stick on numberplate and i have never had any trouble. also have a friend who has had one for about 5 year and he aint had a problem either.

so basicly dont worry about it.

also i made a little mount which comes down from the top of my bumper to mount the plate on for MOTs then i remove it wen i get home

this link isn't about stcky plates i am 99% sure they are legal i was stopped by the police about my first one because it was too small and the police said that stick on ones were fine as long as they have a standard marking on them which is on the bottom right corner of any number plate.

There is a requirement that you should be able to read the plate from a certain distance away with the car on level ground . I can't remember the specifics. If it passes this then it's a legal plate.

Also bear in mind that AFAIK there is no specific requirement for a front plate, just that if you have one it must be legal. Bikes don't have front plates, our old Beetle didn't. It's a bit like a spare wheel - not having one is fine, but having one that's knackered is a big no-no.

i made up 2 backets and fitted the plate across the bumper

still think it looked better without a front plate, until i got pulled.

Stick on plates are fine dude, been stopped a few times for different reasons and they've never once mentioned the plate whilst they do their all round the car checks.

Think it's an MOT failure though as it'll be to high .... but thats easy enough to fix!

Looks way better too!
