Battery Recommendation!
Hello..
Only just joined 2day so 4give me 4 asking any silly questions which may have been covered in the past etc.
I have a 51 plate Subaru WRX and the battery is near knackered.
Could anyone suggest a very good make/type 4 me to buy and fit?
Will i lose the code on my radio (standard subaru unit) or av any problems
wi my tracker device?
On the subject of the tracker unit, does that take a lot of the charge out of the battery while being parked up.
I don't use the car during the week, only at weekends & it sometimes needs a push start which always looks cool!!
ps
one other thing, i use Autogleam polish, seems gud, owt any better or more suitable for WRC blue paint finish?

Hi Rach, welcome to the shark pool.......you'll find out soon enough....
Regards the battery, I recently bought one from Halfords, 4 year guarentee, signal light on top and they matched the price and deducted there's by £20 to do so.
I don't think that a tracker will drain much charge as I believe thay are very low voltage units.
Had the scoob long.....?
On the subject of wax, I use meguiars clay bar and GOLD CLASS WAX.
Si.

The tracker and locking/immobiliser do take quite a bit of power - and in my experience will drain a battery in two weeks to the point where it starts to do irreparable damage to the battery cells. If you do a decent run each weekend, a good battery should really be OK until next weekend.
I'm sure you have already taken care to switch off all lights, heaters, aircon, radio etc. before turning off the ignition, so that when you restart next weekend, there is minimum load.
Putting the car into 'superlock mode' apparently uses a lot less battery power - and the bonus is that if someone got your keys, they would need to input security code to start car - but it does set off the siren before you input the code, so could be annoying.
As to battery, I found the old battery on my bugeye was only 48 AH, whereas the manual says you need at least a 52AH battery for a 2 litre turbo model. My local car factor recommended and sold me a 60AH battery, which surely should provide enough power and extra capacity. Just make sure you get the same dimension battery - take yours off the car into the shop to make sure the size/shape etc. is the same.

Do you have the official 'Security System Operating Instructions' (blue cover with Subaru and logo) that came with the car? - if so, the instructions are on page 12. If you are really stuck, I can photocopy and fax details to you.
