Default How to fit a STi intercooler to a 04 WRX

Ive just bought a Version 8 STi intercooler, and I want to fit it to my 04 WRX, Is it a straight swap job or is there anything I should do to make it fit, any suggestions and a step by step guide would be appricated.

Don't you also have to change the boot thing (technical term) that sits under the scoop and directs the air onto the intercooler ?

Keeping the WRX scoop air splitter on defeats the whole purpose of the STi IC.
Removing the splitter entirley won't see the entire benefits either.
Get the splitter and either get an STi scoop or modify the STi splitter to fit under the WRX scoop.
Fitting the STi IC is very easy on the newage WRXs, as long as you also got the red turbo to IC hose.

Oh yeh - there's an STi scoop splitter on Ebay at the moment

Looks like ill modify the splitter which goes under the scoop, as I dont really want to put the STi scoop on.

So looks like a easy job then, Ive got the red turbo hose and Sti dump valve etc, so Looks like ill give it a go on the weekend.

I've found it easier putting on STi ICs by taking off the rh mount entirely at the inlet- fit it straight onto the IC then mount the whole thing on.
Trying to line up the IC mount arms if they are already attached to the inlet can be a pain as the red hose is a bit stiff.

the original subaru STI is actually quite cheap for a subaru part and you'll need the rubber boot part too.

Fitted it today, a peice of **** to fit, took me about 25mins and I had a 5min break. Car sounds awsome, fitted the standard STi dump valve with it, and when it hits over 3k rpm you can hear the turbo whistle even more.
