Getting the flat four burble ona 1.8 GL
Hi I am a complete newbe to the scooby world and have brought a 1.8GL automatic. At the moment I am still getting used to the nice flat four sound after puttin on a 4" back box but I have a couple of questions.
1) What would happen if I use a universal cone filter, would the MAF sensor go crazy or something???
2) Is there a way of replicating the sound of the flat four burble on this engine so it sounds like a WRX/STI/Turbo. Power is not my main concern due to the ever so rising insurance costs.
Any answers would be gratefully received

Im not familiar with the 1.8,but..............
You would have to fit an unequal length header-which i suppose you could modify a WRX one by fabricating a pipe/flanges to go from the WRX uppipe connection to your original exhaust.
Im presuming that the actual engine/exhaust outlets are the same on the 1.8 and 2.0turbo.
Probably not too hard if you're handy with a welder.

Thanks Guys, need to look at the headers on my car because I am sure they are equal length and as for the cone, I am going to put that on when I get my MAF adaptor plate from ebay .
Cheers for all your help
