Default Engine removal

hi all, i posted a question around a week ago titled engine trouble askin for advice on my 99 scoob turbo. thanx for the replys! carried out a compression test an pressure is down on all cylinders (98psi on three of the cylinders and 10psi on cylinder 2)....not good. from these results can i assume its the piston rings on cylinders 1,3 and 4 and on cylinder 2 maybe a piston problem? planning on removing the engine myself with the help of some of my work colleges (i'm an apprentice mechanic with a resonable amount of experiance). can anyone offer some advice and tips for such a big job. Anything would be a great help!

J

Take out Radiator
take off downpipe from Turbo
remove starter engine
behind the starter engine there is a plug which needs to be removed to take out the pin which hold your clutch bearing, by putting an M6 in it and pull the pin out
Take off the 2 engine mount nuts on the bottom and the one on your gearbox on top (under your TMIC)
remove 3 connectors (1 on mafsensor side, 2 with the battery)
Remove 6 bolts between engine and gearbox.
remove piping to your airbox

Now you should be able to lift the engine out. ( i might forgotten a couple of things but they are easy to find if so)

J, when you've got it all disconnected, you may find that it's stuck like it's welded to the gearbox, you may need to assist it's removal with some sort of levering device..... there are dowels in the joint that corrode and get serioulsy stuck......

dont for get to have a look in to what caused the piston to melt
blocked injector maybe???? caused a lean mix

or maybe a sensor down, the worst thing that could happen is you melt it agen within a week.......

also have a look around for just a short block without heads on etc may be cheeper for you? and it may be worth changing the bearing and defo the oil pump
