Default urgent help required

ok i have a slight prob which is getting rather annoying, my 93 wrx every so often just seems to cut out driving fast or slow if i hold my foot on the throttle for a few seconds it will pick up again but not for very long as it is getting more frequent, i have done a ecu check and i keep getting 23 MAF sensor, all i really need to know is ,will a faulty MAF cause these symptoms as i dont want to fork out for nothing, if i reset the ecu it seems to be ok for a short while then it starts again, please help as i will be selling it to buy a sti but i wont sell with this fault. thanks
