Airflow over scoop....

Airflow over scoop....
Yesterday I did the 'taping bits of wool to the bonnet and IC scoop' to see what the airflow was like at 'high' speed (all speeds as indicated).
MY05 WRX
Results:
a) 0mph lots of funny looks, esp. at Sainsbury's..!
b) Up to 40mph the wool is a bit 'wavy' in the airflow over all area's of bonnet.
c) From 60mph up they lye flat to the panels.
d) At 125mph (ahem) they're pinned to panels, even the ones on the leading edge of the scoop..! The only ones that were slightly raised (but straight) were the ones on the leading edge of the bonnet.
Conclusion:
IMHO air flow into the scoop is not effected at the tested speeds (ie upto 125mph) although TB air/charge temps need to be measured to confirm this. Something I've got planned soon.
Wish I'd video'd it now..!
Will repeat soon with vid.
Just need a temp gauge to check.
Regards,
Jason
PS wife recons I've lost the plot completely..!

From: the fastest rentals in town......0-100mph in 10 seconds
I'd love to the pics of you roaring through Sainsburys at 100mph+++
Seriously though Nice work Jason, good to see someone actually trying to prove the theory although I believe that the classics are more the issue here. If it hasn't been done in a few weeks I'll have a go (in Tescos this time ) once my classic is back on the road.

Oh no, a Mythbuster!!
Good work fella, it's great to get experimental data and this is something I've considered doing myself 'just to see' - saved me the bother (and weird looks!).
I hope you used Subaru/Prodrive wool...
