they are both going to shorten the life of the box and clutch, just to different degrees.
with more power you will find your gonna have to sort the clutch out deffo and the box sooner or later, with the 20G it will need doing a bit sooner thats all,
i will be putting a 20G on my MY99 in a few months along with other supporting mods and hopefullt i will see if i can get it to 400 and i fully expect to need a new box sooner rather than later, my clutch is ok as it's been uprated already when i had a new engine put in.
i'm sure your going to need another clutch though before long, good this tuning lark

out of the 16g and the 20g i prefer the 16g for the outright accelleration and quicker spoolup. but i still love my 20g turbo 1st and 2nd gear are a little quicker on the 16g turbo but the 20g has it in every other gear from then and pulls a lot harder as well

your engine will be fine, im still running a 20g turbp on a standard UK engine and andy tuned it to 1.4bar and it peaks at 1.5bar on the defi's
the 16g was mapped at 1.6bar and used to peak at 1.7bar on the defi's

i have been running this lot for about a year and a half, 1st 6 months on 16g and the rest on the 20g, never had the car on the rollers with the 20g but i would assume around 400bhp'ish give or take a few bhp

I just wondered what you have at the moment ?
in my bugeye I've gone from OEM TD04 to TD05 16g to TD05 18g all on standard internals....... Usual mods and mapped by Bob Rawle and Andy F
I have to say that the Andy F supplied TD05 16g with STi TMIC, STi injectors, De-cat, fuel pump, reg and mapping on the road with Bob Rawle certainly gave the best value ..........and 325 BHP
I gather AndyF's hybrid TD04 is also tasty !!
Midlife.....

i've no idea to be honest as i've never had the pleasure of being in a car that has required one, YET!
if it's not going to be needed as a daily driver then i'd put one in regardless just so you know that it will be suitable, no point going to all that trouble and still wondering if your clutch is going to be ok
