Default Engine Probs Misfire and Tilt?? and Decat?

Its a 92/93 wrx with filter and exhaust..

Right before i took my car off the road it had a misfire at 4kish so did a check using engine light and connectors under dash revealed icv which would have nothing to do with this surely? checked all coilpacks and there isnt a crack in any of them... HELP i cant live with a misfire!!

Also as i look at the engine it appears to have a tilt as i could not remove the driverside rear coilpack without lifting the engine with a crane is this normal? i presumed the engine mount broke but when lifting the crane the car moves quite a way first then the engine moves...which from my experience if its broke the lump normally lifts first??

And finally on decat i have removed cat and fitted pipe but my car appears not to have a lambda fitted but does have a small sensor maybe half cm across screwed into the side what is this? and my decat pipe doesnt seem to have a hole for this to screw into do i need it back on?

thanks in advance as i know you guys normally come to the rescue

Mate's car was in limp home mode and fault code for ICV came up. iirc it wasn't the icv though... i'll ask him tomorrow.

The sensor is a "oh sheeit the cat's on fire" switch. Just unscre it and tie it up out of the way.

Hello,
You haven't mentioned your sparkplugs ?
How old are they what make/rating are they? These may well need replacing?

Secondly, your quite correct about looking at the coilpacks for cracking, but again how old are they? And they can break down internally, which isn't visible so again these might need replacing?
And of course have a look at the famous MAF sensor, again how old is yours, when was it last cleaned/checked etc?

If your car idles and drives okay then your MAF may be okay, if under boost at 4000rpm your getting misfires then deffo spark plugs or coilpacks.

Kev.

moe than likely it is the plugs.. Exactly the same problem when mine needed doing (also a my92/93) and at the same range of revs.

The lamada is in the manifold and so not on the exhaust itself so dont worry about that. The cat on fire can be removed and disconnected and it wont throw up any faults on the cel
