Exclamation Steamy Radiators

hi

noticed today that my98 impreza turbo wagon with 81k was a bit steamy when switched off. so had a look and it seems to be coming from the rad, suspect a minute pin ***** hole as it doesnt do it all the time but muched its way through around a litre of water in a week..... how much of a job is it to change the rad for a new one? also, the hoses seem very thin, very easy to squeeze when not under pressure. is this normal?

thanks

Rich

very easy to change.. just check the jubilees are tight and not leaking etc..

pipes are fairly squishy yes..

litterally the top and bottom hose, the fan connections, two 12mm bolts and the rad lifts out.. fit fans to new rad (the 10mm bolts with probably sheer, so get some spares) and fit to new rad, lift in and fit hoses and brackets / 12mm bolts, plug fans in and then refill with water..

although with all this water about just check it wasn't just wet.. the bottom bracket will hold a little water that will then steam etc..

Got my rad replaced (new - not re-cored) at my local garage inc. fluids, vat and labour for about 25% less than I could buy a rad for!! It's worth ringing around!
