Unhappy Stripping my Car to Standard...HELP

Okay...guys i need some serious advise and help..

My car does not seem to be selling, so i will now attempt to strip all the mods and put back to near standard though will need some help.

My car is a 1998 (s) Uk spec pushing near over 316bhp...

Performance Mods include:
  • Apexi PowerFC mapped to 1.4bar
  • Apexi ECU
  • Apexi AVCR Boost controller
  • TSL Group N System
  • TSL 3" Down Pipe
  • H&S Uppipe
  • TD05 Turbo
  • Oil Catch Can
  • Front Mount Intercooler
  • 440 Injectors
  • STI 5 Induction kit
Now the task is to strip all of this out of the car.

What would happen if i were to do the following in this order:
  1. Disconnect the PowerFc and ECU
  2. Disconnect the AVCR Boost controller
  3. Connect up the standard Boost soloniod
  4. Take out the 440 injectors
  5. Install the standard 380 injectors
  6. Plug in the standard ECU
  7. Start the car
Would the car start? (not drive, just start?)

If this will work it can be a start, next i will do the following:
  1. Take out the fmic, and replace with top mount.
  2. Take out the H&S uppipe
  3. Take off the downpipe
  4. Take off the exhaust
  5. Put in the standard up pipe
  6. Put in the standard downpipe
  7. Put in the standard Exhaust
  8. Then the TD04 turbo
Start the car...

Though still not sure how to proceed and what to do...

any advise is welcome....

The wiring needs to be changed for the factory ECU to work again. The cam/crank pins need to be swapped on the ECU plug, and the fuel pump pin needs to be relocated too. Other than that it will all go back on. Probably hook up the actuator of the turbo direct to the turbo to give minimal boost on the standard ECU.

Turbo best done at same time as up-pipe and downpipe as they both have to be undone at the turbo end to swap them on their own.

Hi,

If your standard ecu is not the one originally from your car you may end up with an immobiliser/key mis match. This could mean a trip to the dealer for reprogramming. My car would start for 20 secs or so and cut out and I spent ages looking for a wiring problem. Just thought I would let you know so if it happens you know what to do.

Hi,

Sorry for not relying to any PM's.

The parts are not for sale just yet and may not be for a while, all depends on what happens over the next few days once i put the OE ECU in. It may end up that it will be more hassle then its worth.

Also please see THIS THREAD for other parts i have for sale.

Default Front 2 Pot Calipers - Which way around?

Just replacing the Brembo's on my car with the Standard 2 POT's...

Should the bleed nipple on the front calipers be ontop or bottom?

Simon,

Just sent you an email, just managed to get my car in the garage last nite. Spent all weekend cleaning it...

Was taking off the Brembo's last nite, though got little stuck on which way the standard calipers go on..

I assume i have to get the standard Soloniod sorted before i can do the ECU?

From memory..

on the turbo you have a pipe from wastegate solenoid to outlet nipple.. with a T piece that connects to the top connection on the 2port solenoid.. the bottom connection on the 2port solenoid connect to the air intake, small pipe comes up near power steering resevoir.

Talking cam/crank & fuel pump pins

Okay...It worked!!! Standard ECU is in....!

Connector B137
Pin 7 was already empty
There is a wire in Pin 17 already too

Connector B136
Swapped pin 8 with pin 10..

The car started though idling little funny. The car was left on for 1min, i assue this is enough time to see if the Imobiliser will cause an issue...

Thanks for the diagrams Simon...

Will make a start on putting the injectors this evening..
