Default sti brakes

i have just imported a 2003 sti from japan ( thanks for your help GC8 ) and the brakes on it are the normal subaru 4 pots but the mechanic says they are the original brakes on the car, they have had the car up on the ramps and they say they have never been changed !!! i thought all newage sti's came with brembo brakes ??? is there some wierd model that didnt ???

ste double checked on brakes they are the original brakes some cars in japan came out with them on as a option for the japs so they could put 16" wheels on the car. the car has to be totally standard for the sva test and you will need the brembos on as this is oe spec for the sti and the 17" wheels

you obviously bought the base model that is used for rallying hence why no good brakes!hope you got a very good deal as a lot of jdm extras are not on it either!check out litchfield imports website for more details

The JDM base model SPEC C's, normally fitted with 16" steel wheels as well, are fitted with the basic Subaru 4-pot setup......the car is a lightweight, stripped model intended to be stripped further and refitted for rallying !!

Is it seam welded then, as i would have thought this would be done on any car that is intended for rallying.
