Question crankshaft oil seal leak

how does it happen and is it due to age or ?

well it is a plastic thing at the end of the crank and if it goes i would say it was due to age/wear or someone aint fitted it properly e.g. pushed it in too far or not far enough.
and it is very easy to damage one as you fit it because they are a tight fit

for your sake tho mate i hope it's the front one as to re-do the rear one means gearbox clutch and flywheel have to come off.
