Oil overfill cause CEL??
Hi Guys,
You may have read in my recent threads the trouble i have been having with my CEL. Basically MY94 WRX, CEL came on due to lack of oil, serviced, all ok, now CEL on every trip. If i reset the ECU there are no error codes and car drives fine until it hits 4000 revs then on comes the CEL.
Today i dipped the oil and it is almost all the way up the dipstick so must be way overfilled. Obviously overfill is an issue so the car will go back to the garage to get it sorted but do you think this could be the cause of my problems?
It wasn't something i considered previously as the same person always does my servicing and there has never been a problem before.
Help??

the o/filling wouldn't cause it on its own, but the other issues it could cause may well do......................
i mentioned this to you when you collected your parts as being the possible problem!!
suggest you take it back asap, and get some oil removed - it will almost definately have contaminated the boost solenoid (if your using the O.E.) as a starter.............
if your stuck, give me a bell and we could sort this for you!!

Its going back in on monday to drop the oil.
As i said when i came to see you there has never been a problem with the car whilst i have owned it until the oil got low, it was fine for the first 500 miles after the service but now i have the CEL every time i go above 4000.
I will clean the boost solenoid (yes its O.E.) after the oil is sorted and do a reset at the same time. If it causes me any more problems then i will be giving you a call to get it booked in. Also needs the tracking sorting again so will probably be up to see you anyway.
Cheers, Tony.
