Red face emptied coolant and can only get 5.5 litres back in?????

hi
changed the coolant today drained the system and refilled slowly ocassionally squeezing top and bottom rad hoses but only managed to get 5.5 litres of mixture back in which including topping up the expansion tank!!!
took the car for a drive to warm her up had the heaters on full which started to pump out hot air as normal engine temp was achieved. at home i lifted the bonnet to check the expansion tank for any bubbles of which their were non.

i was under the impression that the classic scooby had a 7.2 litre coolant capacity if so what has happened i think that the above shows that i have carried out the job correctly and i have no air locks or will i find when the engine cools i will have to add more?
please help!!!!

I don't know about the coolant capacity but the cold lower hose is correct on the rad.

Cheers
