Default blocking lambda sensor on downpipe

ive a downpipe with a lambda sensor hole in the top do i need to bloke it off,

on my standard pipe there is only a small sensor at the bottom of the cat which i believe is a cat on fire sensor ,and not a big one

can i just put a bolt in where the lambda sensor is supposed to go

thanks matt

I assume you have an old classic and the lambda sensor is in the headers?

If so then relocate the lambda sensor to the downpipe, there is just enough length on the loom once re-routed, then blank off the hole in the headers. You need a blanking bolt thats M18 x 1.5, or any pinto sparkplug will do.

it is a good idea to move the lambda to the downpipe, but DO NOT use a spark plug in your headers as the tip may crack then come off and go through your turbo!!!!!

i have a few blanking plugs so PM me if you want one.

I've always used a sparkplug there on all 3 of my subarus! Never had a problem but I suppose it could happen

would it give better readings ?
also the cat on fire sensor is not going to come out in one piece so will the cars ecu so a cell by not having it pluged in

Just unplug the cat on fire sensor, don't bother removing it from the downpipe, no CEL appears.

The lambda will last longer once relocated, but you are right, you do risk damaging it in the move.

the reason for moving it is the end of the lambda has also been known to come off and go through the turbo.....i sound like a broken record

was looking for something to block lambda hole for hours in and out of every place i could think of from bike shop to fencing yards, then i went into a garage and the bloke that owned it said that he took one of somebodys car on sat ,so he got it out the bucket and gave it to me,

used that and left mine well in place where its stuck anyway so job done

the car goes like f**k now, 0.2 bar more and just keeps pulling
got the pipe off ebay £126 3" all the way lovely bit of kit

at last found that stupid rattle which was pissing me off,it was the headers shield right by the lambda sensor so i cut that off ha ha,

thanks

matt
