LPG CONVERSION!!!!!
I was wondering if anyone here has had the LPG gas conversion done to thier Subaru????
I have a WRX STI 52reg JAP import that has had first CAT replaced remmapped with an HKS hyper exhaust and remaped amazing car but its eating alot of fuel and i have to use it everyday for work i have had it 3 weeks and think that lpg is the only way to go to extend my mpg.
So if anyone can tell me if its ok to do that would be great!!!

Don't know, but having driven a few LPG-converted cars I wasn't that impressed, there have been loads of problems with them cutting out and blowing head gaskets but that could just be down to that particular conversion.
Would still put me off LPG conversions on a turbo'd car though.

cant see why you should have a problem with a sequential injection system providing it is set up correctly they are quite sofisticated now a days just have to weigh up the cost of conversion and miles traveld to see how long it will take before you break even

I have converted and owned a golf gti and cavalier sri with good results. Cant tell any diffrence between lpg and petrol performance wise. I am too thinking of doing my scoob. If you souce the parts and fit yourself you should be able to manage it for under £500. Mines an import and supposed to run on jap fuel which is about 100 ron and LPG is 105 I think so the results should be good. The engine will run and last alot longer and smoother plus low emmisions. Not sure about LPG injection systems but to get the best out of the scoob it might be the best way to go also a donut tank replacing the spare to keep weight down. I fill my tank which holds £40 and it last me a wheek. Filling weekly on LPG would cost me £10.

I had a quote from http://www.gastech.org.uk near where I live, £1700 if I remember. That's a lot of miles before it starts to pay for itself!

DEANDAVY - would you care to elaborate on your conversion?
Mark00024 - would be very interested to hear how you get on. You could have a few customers if you can prove it works well on the scoob, at that price.
If you search back, you'll find that people have done a lot of tooth-sucking, a lot of doubt expressed, but no hard data. Problems with rings and oil scavenge have been mentioned, but it's all a bit hazy. Meanwhile, 'Go LPG' tell me that their Romano supplier has done the conversion before with "no problems" and have all the data available to do a conversion. Cost towards £2k I think.
With the high octane rating and the mappability of the scoob it's gotta be possible, just a case of whether there really are long-term problems, and COST (payback for a commercially done conversion will take a couple of years, by which time the govt may have changed its mind a bit on taxation). With a donut tank in the place of the spare wheel it'd be convenient too.
