Default help needed-fast knocking noise from rear??

Hi guys, thought i'd ask for some advice before taking my MY99 turbo to the local garage to be checked out.
There is a fast, continuous, knocking/ticking noise coming from the rear of the car, drivers side, i think. its there slightly when i'm travelling at speed and is more prominent when going slower. Ive thought of the wheel bearing but isnt this noise more of a whirring sound??
any ideas???
Thanks in advance.

that noise is consistent with a failed wheel bearing where the wheel hub has worn in the inner race of the bearing. Also possible outer joint problem, and also the brakes rubbing or vibrating.

Sounds more like a CV joint type issue to me. Check the rear drive shafts and the UJ for the rear wheel.

Thanks guys, will get it checked asap. I got told today it was probably tyre noise. Funny, because i havn't heard it today....but the car feels like its driving right funny. Back wheels feel sloppy when going around corners..could i have REALLY knackered something?

Sounds more like a bulging sidewall, that feels really strange to drive on. Run your hands round the inner sidewall and check for bulges.
