Default twin scroll exhausts

how do the twin scroll exhausts differ from the euro exhausts, i have seen my car on the ramps and its only 3 sections and reminds me of my classic shape exhaust. and i know the euro spec is four sections. but apart from the fitment to the turbo are these exhausts the same size for fitment ????

The downpipes for the twinscroll are different as they have to join to the twinscroll turbocharger outlet that is different to the size of the standard turbo.
Also the downpipes for the GDB-C&D (STI JDM 03-04) & GDB-E&F (05-06) are different.

We have a picture of the t/scroll downpipe on our website www.dhcars.co.uk under the ZERO/SPORTS Impreza option.

Yes my head spins sometimes as well with all the different systems. But as a guide.

Classic GC8 Systems the same UK-Jap

01-02 STI Jap the same systems, different individual length to UK but same total length & fittings. These sytemes also fit UK 01-05 & Jap 01-05WRX.

Twinscroll as per last post.

Can be a bit of a nightmare keeping track & hard to always keep the correct stock.

Steve
Yes prices listed are +VAT but we do offer a special deal that if you purchase the downpipe & the world leaguer at the same time we fit free of any labour charge.

I guess anythings possible but would be a strange thing to do & not something
I would recommend. Would be best to buy a system designed to do the job but I am a retailer so would say that!!

-Not sure about welding standard Subaru mild steel to s/steel pipe & the finish would have to be very very good to make the whole thing worthwhile.

-The system you would be using would not be designed for the t/scroll so would the cat be suitable & get the best from the set up? Also the t/scroll has two different designs.

What do other people think?

I think you get what you pay for & we know the ZERO/SPORTS are not the cheapest but could just be the best for the Jap spec models (sorry retailers hat on again).

Must admit not yet fully up on all the pro/cons changing to all the different turbo types, so out of interest what turbo would be seen as an improvement on the t/scroll, other than the ball bearing t/scroll used in the spec C. Also I think the manifold system would have to be changed to go away from the t/scroll set up.

Sounds interesting, let me know if you come up with any power figures. We are planning to fit the full ZERO/SPORTS exhaust system, air intake pipe, n1 air filter & SP Data ECU to our demo JDM 06 STI & then have it tested for power.

We will also be fitting a full bodykit & 6 pots so should be interesting when finished but the performance pack & safe/useable power increase will be our main aim.

Talking of twin scroll power figures I have recently fitted a system that is currently under development to my MY05 JDM STi. Car was supplied by Litchfield Imports so has a UK fuel map from PowerStation but otherwise standard. All figures are from the Delta Dash Dyno facility so at the wheels figures and tests completed on the same stretch of road, 4th gear, 2s up with 1/2 tank of fuel.

Standard
Maximum Wheel Power: 226.5 BHP @ 5951 RPM

Maximum Wheel Torque: 230.4 LbFt @ 4758 RPM
Power to weight ratio: 141.5 BHP per ton
In Gear Acceleration:
40 - 60mph = 3.6 seconds
50 - 70mph = 3.2 seconds
60 - 80mph = 3.2 seconds
70 - 90mph = 3.6 seconds

With development exhaust
Maximum Wheel Power: 269.2 BHP @ 5878 RPM

Maximum Wheel Torque: 289.0 LbFt @ 4218 RPM
Power to weight ratio: 168.3 BHP per ton
In Gear Acceleration:
40 - 60mph = 2.6 seconds
50 - 70mph = 2.5 seconds
60 - 80mph = 2.6 seconds
70 - 90mph = 3.0 seconds

No remap as I don't have the facility but peak boost has risen from 1.43bar to 1.51bar and I have removed 2degrees globally as it would det up hills.

System has a high flow cat so have been assured by supplier that it will past emmisions tests but it's yet to be proven by myself. Will report back once tested.

Steve

If your going down the route of wealding mild steel to stainless, i wouldnt recomend it, if in fact its possible.

If you can get a flange to me, i can machine it out of stainless from what ever gauge you want, then the whole thing can be stainless.

Up to you though, get in touch if your interested

Ps, i found this as im looking for pics of your car, specificly the carbon bonnet. can you pm me details on the cost involved please, where did you get it and how did it arrive? is it a full carbon bonnet?

Cheers

John
