General Service on Classics
I tried avoiding creating a new thread but all i can find is "what garage to take it to". What I want to know is what do you usually replace on service and every how often do you do it?
1. Is it every 6 months?
2. Cambelt every how many miles do you change it?
3. What brand of oil should I go? The viscioty would be different in Malta with the warm weather we have,
4. I got an sti air panel, with what can i clean it with?
5. Do the brake, gearbox, radiator and clutch fluid need to be replaced?
Any suggestions will be welcome. My car is a Japanese import MY97 last service was done 4000 miles ago by previous owner.

go to subaru and ask for a copy of the servicing schedule with all the jobs done for each one. and then wonder why they charge you £120 to change some semi synth oil and check your car has still got 4 wheels.

Cambelt is every 3 years/45k miles i believe...
Not too sure about which oil visocosity you should go for, something slightly thinner than usual, but capable of withstanding higher temperatures due to your climate. just search for oil on this one, there are hundreds of similar threads...
Brake, gearbox and clutch fluid shouldn't need changing with any regularity unless you are having problems... never a problem to have a new set of fluids though,
According to http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm the interval for clutch and diff oils is 30k miles.
Personally i do a coolant swap every 12 months.
I also change plugs, clean inlets, new air filter and change engine oil every time i get a new car... just nice to know its all new / okay...
Hope this helps..
