After been stood all day in the freezing cold my car struggled to start after work tonight (MY05 WRX). Its the second time it has happended in the last 2 weeks, where I have to turn it over for a while until it eventually fires and chuggs a little bit. After that all is well.
All I can think of is that I left the interior light on a couple of weeks ago for about 24hrs (Doh!!) which may have weakended the battery??? I had a look under the bonnet tonight and I noticed a very faint "fan belt squeling noise" when the engine revs settled at idle and I could also hearing a bit of a buzzing noise coming from the alternator direction. Is this normal?
Maybe head off to the dealer and face the ordeal of locating the problem. Anyone any ideas??
Cheers

Oh yeh the other thing was that the engine has started to tap a little bit for about a minute since its got really cold (only done it for the last 2-3 days). My old VR6 used to do this for about 5 -10 mins before the hydraulic tappetts pressured up. Is this normal on the boxer engine?
