turbo rattle

took my car to the garage this morning to find out about some rattle
i can hear under the bonnet.
just picked it up,the bloke said the turbo has gone the solenoid is what
is rattling can the solenid be replaced or have i got to buy a new turbo.
that's not all the front crank shaft seal is leaking oil so can someone
tell me where i can get a kit from?

I think you would notice more than a rattle under the bonnet if the turbo had gone, like a big white cloud following you. Was the garage used to Subarus? A second opinion might be a good idea. The solenoid will click to itself if the test leads are connected, is thatg the rattle he is talking about?
Frint crankshaft oil seals are about £8 from Subaru, thats the only 'kit' you need apart from the tools to do the job.

does not sound right to me. the solenoid is separate to the turbo so a busted solenoid does not mean a new turbo.
A rattle from the turbo is most likely heat shields. Second most likely possibility is that there is play in the actuator and the waste-gate is rattling
