Angry Pesky diesel in tank

Made a great decision yesterday to add £5 of diesel to 1/4 of tank of petrol. Standing at BP pumps i saw green and thought petrol, saw black and tyhought diesel, saw blue and thought this will be my SUL.

Much to my excitement when putting the pump down i realised this was diesel. Didnt start the car and had it towed home. Tried syphoning out but gave up after achieving 1/2 a cup full in about an hour.

I've since spoke to a garage as well as a good mechanic in the family and they have both said brim it up with SUL and add a little octane booster then fill at every opportunity to dilute.

Any thoughts>?
Thanks

You could disconnect the fuel line in the engine bay and use the electric fuel pump to pump the tank dry into a gerry can? simple job, expect a little pressure at the pipe when you disconnect it.

Then fill up with unleaded.

pump it out from the fuel filter as already said, then put a gallon of petrol in and pump that through the system as well then refill with petrol and start up.

Don't forget to buy a new filter too.

Ok

After yesterdays eventful day i have taken the advice of some local garages and mechanics in the family.

They advised that due to their only being about 5-6ltrs of diesel in their that i should brim the tank with SUL and add octane booster.

I've done this and after it initially not wanting to start (boy was i nervous starting) and a puff of white smoke it appears to be running ok.

Its a little slow on its heels at the moment and i know i cannot really put my foot down to see if there is a detrimental effect until i've been through a tank or two of SUL and booster.

At the moment it drives ok, just seems a little lumpy and lame.
Touch wood she'll be back to normal soon after her drink of the **** stuff.

Just keep it off boost and don't thrash it till you get through at least a tank full.

Would be prudent to use optimax+octane booster and take it easy on your second tank full too.
