Default Speed limiter/converter

Hey everyone,

I've just found this on the net. Does anyone know a) do these do what it says on the tin, b) Has anyone had any experience of them.

This would be to go on my 94 classic wrx.

Delimiter at top of this page (Click here)

Thanks

got that exact one on my 93 WRX!
Its an epicyclic gearbox (basically gear reduction) that is set at the correct ratio to:
convert the km/h 'signal' from the transmission to an mph equivalent
this has a side effect of removing the 112 mph speed limiter because, 112 mph = approx 180 kph. So when the ECU thinks you are going 180 kph you are actually going 180 mph....

bosh!

so basically, in summary... get one!

How easy are these to fit and what level of accuracy do they hold as i dont really want shed loads of camera flashes as i'm driving.

I was just dubious by how cheap it was as i've always been quoted £200 odd when looking at getting the clocks and limiter done.

Thanks

Can it be used in conjunction with an electronic speedo?

I've converted my 96 import from mechanical to an electronic odometer (swapped a whole dash out of a uk '98) but somethings not right as my mileage (Km) is showing correct but the speedo needle just bounces when i drive.. so don't know what speed i'm doing.

I got my dad to check, and he reckons the wiring is wrong somewhere?

mine was already on the car when i got it... done by the people that imported it originally (Triton motorsport - top guys).

AFAIK its a case of splitting the speedo cable and putting the thing inline.... im not sure how easy that is though.... splitting the cable cant be easy!

As for your electronic speedo kalv, im not too sure mate! Although it does sound like it is wired up incorrectly....

its a very easy job, you can just put your hand up behind the dash, unplug your speedo cable, put your converter where your speedo cable was then plug your cable into the converter...job done. you will also get a little mph sticker but you will have to get the speedo face out for that one
