Default lamba sensor on decat

right ive just recieved a decat downpipe i bought of ebay and the lamba sensor hole is larger than the lamba sensor on my classic ive contacted the man who sells them and he said dont bother fitting the lamba sensor and get a blanking bolt is he right or is it a load of bull much help needed

what year is your classic? if it is an early one then the lambada is on the headers (not inlet manifold). It could possibly be the cat on fire sensor that you mean, in which case yes just blank the hole up. TSL sell blanking bolts that fit perfectly, otherwise I think a spark plug from an old ford pinto engine will fit nicely as well.

On a 95 the lambda is in the headers, so you can block the hole on the DP, or move the lambda to the downpipe and block the hole in the headers. Subaru moved it to the DP on the later models because its a cooler place, hence a less harsh enviornment for the sensor. With the lambdas its usually a case of if its OK don't touch it, but when it does need replacing then stick the new one in the DP.

Oh and yes, the wire coming from your OE DP is as said above the cat on fire sensor, just trace it back to the connector and unplug it.
