anyone interested in cheap detonation displays (knocklink type)
I am about to start producing a knocklink type detonation display.
It will be called the Detalarm.
It will have 8 small LEDs and one large one (big red) and will be designed so it fits into a nice container that slots on your dash and is easy to wire-up. It will be smaller than current displays on the market and more discreet and easier to fit.
Estimated cost will be 60 quid without bosch sensor but i hope to be selling with the sensor with proper connectors - hopefully under 100 quid with sensor.
testing the water for interest.
I am looking for a few people who might be keen to buy one at an introductory rate "edit - I now have a few people, price will be £60 for all others"
Please PM me.
estimated stock arrival time is late March/ early April 2006, could be much earlier
This wil be the first in a wide range of turbo/scooby type budget engine data warning systems. Watch this space!
PS: Moderaters - how do I become an official advertiser and would it be worth it for a cottage industry type operation?

I would be interested in a bag of bits, must be a few on here who can assemble a basic PCB. (or had you something full of SMT and custom firmware in mind?)

Might consider kit form. Depends on how much I could get for it, obviously people will pay a lot less for a kit than the finished product. If the finished product sells for £60, I guess I could happily sell the kit for £40.
I have book marked this thread and will get back to all those that have shown an interest when I have them ready. I am away for the next week, but hope to get cracking on with it when I get back, and start proper selling in March.

Quick update on the new knock display unit: it is coming along - complications with the container supplier have caused delays but I am working on it.
Will let you know asap but it looks like that supplier can not provide until the end of March. they are going to supply very nice containers but at a higher price than planned, so this batch might be different from the next batch as I will probably change supplier. We'll see!
I already have the pcb boards and I am fitting components and doing preliminary tests.
Cheers.

Update : slight delay
Update on the Detalarm:
I have already produced PCB boards and I have components and I have been testing one on my car for the last two weeks. I am very happy with it - works just like a knocklink (the circuitry is along the same lines : a filter, an amplifier and a bar graph generator).
One of my units has been sent off to someone on here who will use it while their 500BHP scoob is being mapped by a well-known mapper - that will be a good test.
I have had problems with a custom enclosure maker and that has really held me back. I have had to order different enclosures from another supplier and redesign and produce new PCB's to fit the new enclosure. The good news, it is smaller than the original enclosure, the bad news, they dont arrive until May 15th!
All going well I will be selling them starting from around May 15th. The price stilll looks good on them - £60 without sensor, £100 with sensor and connector.
The new enclosure is just a small black box - not very pretty but much smaller and more discreet than the knocklink.

I have got a limited supply of the pcb boards that were made for the first box that fell through, so if anyone wants a PCB board, the individual components and component layout instructions to make there own then PM me. My original design has had 9 leds:

(the more observant ones amongst you may notice a few components missing on theat second picture of the board - they were removed during testing - the board would normally have a second chip)
One more thing, I will be selling AFR meters specially designed for the subaru at the same time as selling these detalarms.
The AFR meter will only cost £25 and will include the function to 'zoom in' to the rich end of the spectrum. Of course this AFR is to run off the standard lambda sensor and as such is a narrow-band type.

I have three different packages on ebay including a DIY kit but cannot post much about them as it is considered comercial advertising......
Better than Lithuanian ones I say.
They cost a bit more than a few quid to make BTW, not to mention hours and hours of circuit design time
this thread may be removed now but I hope not
