RCMS mod 1003

RCMS mod 1003
What is this?
I've cleaned my car and checked all my fluid levels today. Just checking around the engine bay for any leaks/problems. Came across RCMS mod 1003 etched into the block just below the largest pulley, next to a sensor (not sure which one!).
Automatically thought of Roger Clark Motorsport????
Does anybody know what this is?????????

At a guess its the following.
RCMS Oil pump modification, 1003 stands for Octoerb 2003.
Either engine has been rebuilt in the past, or the oil pump has been replaced at some point.
RCMS modify the plunger in the pump, to try and stop it sticking, thus avoiding oil pressure probs.

Thanks P20SPD,
I've just had an engine rebuild about 2000 miles ago, pump was replaced then!! Was advised that it looked like the original engine and internals!
Must have been the plunger mod then! Is this a real problem if not done?

Its more a cautious approach, to try and avoid any future oil pressure problems.
How long ago was the engine rebuilt in terms of months? the October 2003 is when the pump was modified by RCMS.
Long time between 2003 and now, IMHO.

The 'RCMS mod 1003' is etched on to the block, not the pump by the looks of things.
I took it to a very reputable independent subaru garage.
I think it might be referring to the old pump that was taken out when the engine was rebuilt.

Onto the block? I could understand that if RCMS did the engine build in October 2003.
The oil pump attaches to the block, behind the cambelt covers, in fact directly behin dthe crank pulley, and below the alternator. The oil pump houses the crank sensor.

Th oil pump has an integral bracket at the very top, which has a round hole in it for the crank sensor to sit in. The crank sensor sits outside the oil pump over the crank timing wheel (hidden behind the black plastic behind the crank pulley).
