Angry 95WRX Alternator belt screetching

I had a new belt put on my car about 14 months ago, so I am surprised it is screetching already, how long are these supposed to last for?

I have tightened it as far as possible, I can just turn it a quarter turn, so unless there is anywhere else I can look, it must be the belt.

I take it if the alternator was on its way out there would be different symtoms? The alternator is the original 98,000 miles.
But the belt has only done 10,000 miles.

Kev.

When you say you've tightened the belt as much as possible.Do you mean you've run out of adjustment?i.e.the bolt is fully wound in? If so put a smaller belt on it maybe 10-20mm shorter.
