Default please help fault 33

hi everyone, last week i became the proud new owner of my first scoob.i have a 1996 import wrx wagon . i have waited 1 week to get registered with dvla .at last i have driven it but to my dissmay i have had the engine light come on and a loss of power at about 3500 rpms coughing and backing off,if driven sensibly it is fine .i have checked the diagnostics and the code is 33 which if i am correct is the speed sensor . does anyone know where this is and how to get to it? also would it be something that i could do myself or would i need to put it into a garage ? thanks for any advice given.alex

does your speedo work? Has it been converted to mph?
If so it could be a problem with the converter/de limiter not connected properly. Check nr the gearbox dipstick and you will see the cable going into the gearbox (you will probably have a little rectangular unit there), make sure that it is seated correctly.
