Took the Subaru, UK turbo 2000 out yesterday, gave it a fair going for about 3/4hr. Warmed it up nicely before, after about 3/4 of B-road blasting I went on the motorway for about 15 minutes, over taking at about 90 so pretty hard going. I came off the motorway, round a corner and then I blasted it again. Just as I did this I saw a little tiny waft of smoke coming from the handbrake area. Suffice to say I s**t myself and limped home, never came back tho.
It smelt like my clutch I think but (after offroading with Land Rovers I'm well used to seeing smoke from clutches), while I was on the motorway I could smell it a little bit (thought it was the oil burner in front of me) only when I clogged it after the motorway did I get this waft of smoke.
At the moment my back seat ash tray blanking plate at the back is off so there is a hole into the centre handbrake console, could it of come from this.
Checked round, no heat around the handbrake etc.
Could this be to do with 1 1/2 of hard driving?? Or what?? please help.
Regards
Andy
