Angry Its the wrong Thread

Just fitting oil pressure gauge (turbo 2000 97) and everythings fitted except where the capillary line (sender) screws into the engine block. The problem is the exsisting oil switch will not fit the T-piece supplied with the sender. The physical size is right but the thread dosent match up. Ive tried a zillion different fittings i have in the garage but nothing will take the thread, is it some wild Japanese fitting or is it just me?
