Default Oil Burning Smell

Just wondered if anyone might know what's wrong with my car.
After driving the car fairly hard and arriving home I can smell a oil burning smell from the front o/s, but it doesn't seem to use any oil and there's no sign of leakage anywhere!!
(It's an R-plate UK Impreza Turbo with just a few sensible mods, prodrive ECU, exhaust, etc, etc)

This is a very common fault on older Classic cars. Oil leaks from the cam cover and drops on to the hot exhaust so you get the smell of burning oil but because it is burned off you never find any on the floor. It is not a serious fault and it only takes a drip of oil to make a significant smell.
The cure is to replace cam cover gaskets, rubber seals and half moons.

I heard about this too (see my other thread in this group today). Seeing as you seem to be talking about what I am asking do you know if this oil leak is something which is likely to recur or cause damage/knock on effects elsewhere? Cheers.

Will not cause any damage just anoying smell , the cam cover gasket is directly above exhaust and so dries out and starts to leak very common just needs new cam cover seal ,two spark plug seals ,and the six bolt seals ,smear of high temp sealant and good as new just make sure everything is nice and clean , not to big of a job.

It happens when the cam cover gaskets and half moons get old.
It is not a serious fault, just an annoyance until it gets really bad but that takes a long time.
In time it will happen again. I replaced the gaskets on a five year old car and did it again three years plus, later.
