Default HKS SSQV fitting newage.

Newage 2001 bugeye.

I've just bought a HKS SSQV blowoff valve secondhand and I've received it without the vacuum filter (looks like a lil disc with 2 connections on the fitting sheet parts list).

Fitting instructions say
"Install the vacuum hose using the supplied vacuum filter and attach the other end to the SSQV (cut the 4mm hose to desired length)"

On asking the seller he said that the vacuum filter wasnt needed, just attach the vacuum hose which is currently connected to the standard recirc directly to the SSQV, dont use the HKS 4mm hose and ignore the vacuum filter bit.

Is this correct, and if so what does the vacuum filter that should be with it do ?

Not as I'm doubting him (I bought it off here ) but I obviously dont want to do any damage so am just dbl checking.

If I do need the filter where can I get one ?

Cheers
Martin.

It took me over an hour to fit my Forge VTA to my newage,

55 mins of that at least was trying to find a 12mm spanner

Just got home and checked, the vacuum hose connecting to the right hand side of my existing standard recirc is much wider gauge than the shaft on the back of the HKS SSQV where you connect the 4mm hose supplied to, so I guess the filter has a larger and a smaller connector on each side ?

Anyway doesnt look like I can fit this without the filter, was sold as being for a bugeye - is it ?

no the filter is straight coupler.. iirc the kit that comes with the dv has a pipe reducer in it..

just fit a small bit of pipe on the DV and push the larger pipe over it..

no problem.. you might want to put a clamp on the DV end of the vac line.

cut the smaller pipe abour 2cms long.. out it on the DV and then force the larger pipe over it and then clamp it etc..
