Default COIL PACK CHECK

Is there a definitive way to check the Coil Packs? I've done a quick search but as yet have not found a clear answer!

Any help is appreciated - be as technical as you want!

Its a 1994 wrx.

Many thanks,

A qucik check is remove the coilpack and check for splits and cracks under the rubber sleeve. When these crack they tend to give slight misfiring when on boost but may appear to run normally. I have just replaced 3 on mine. Expecting to replace the 4th within the next few weeks.

As regards to using a multimeter to measure resistance etc if the packs themselves aren't split I don't know what is a good value of not. There is a post on here that lists a website with an sti manual so that probably covers the ignition side of things along with relevant specs etc. dont know what age of sti though so it may not have coil packs.

What are your symptoms?

Not entirely sure - trying to find out for a mate, he wants to know how to test them electrically. I'll have a look around - if anyone else has any input please fell free to do so!
