yes u can but butchering a morette after paying a fortune isnt my style ...
i would think a full replacement intake wouldnt cost as much as a morette kit plus you can still get away with using the car @ night with the whole o/s light missing as you still have the n/s one which should effectively be like m.o.ting a motor bike !

I've no idea if you can do this with a classic headlight but I recently created a headlight intake panel for my track 205, infact I even used a Subaru Pipercorss panel filter for it!
I basically split the headlight in two where the front and back parts were glued together (having already removed the glass):

Then I just traced around the light and cut the panel filter to fit:

Put it all back togther and there we go:
